First Timothy

So since I got so much input from people about what to read next (cough-slackers-cough) I decided to go with 1 Timothy. Mostly because its short and I knew I could get it done in a couple days, but also because I remembered my pastor saying how he was reading in it. So I was like, hm, maybe I should do a sort study on it to. So here it is. All six glorious chapters of 1 Timothy in the way that I understood them. Scary I know...

Ch. 1
The law was put in place for those who go against it to protect those who abide by it. Also to show that man isn't perfect and is fallible. Don't listen to those people who want to debate endlessly on religion! It isn't worth it! Instead, love them patiently!
"Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners" 15 b
God forgives everyone who comes to him. Even those who have terrible sins like Paul. He takes away their sins and then blesses them with purpose and grace.
Keep your conscience clear so that you won't go deliberately against God.

Ch. 2
"Pray for all people. Ask God to help them, intercede on their behalf, and give thanks for them. Pray this way for kings and all who are in authority so that we can live peaceful and quiet lives marked by godliness and dignity." 1-2
Men should worship free from their anger and controversies. Giving their all to worship. Women should be dressed modestly and not attract attention to their selves. Women shouldn't teach men but should remain quiet.
"The woman will be saved through child bearing assuming they continue to live in faith, love, holiness, and modesty." 15
Does this verse mean that woman was saved through bearing Christ?

Ch. 3
How to be an elder/deacon 101
The church of God was built on faith. And the great mystery of it all is how Christ came down and died for us.

Ch. 4
Marks vegetarians as heathens! Or at least in my mind it does. Everything foodwise was given to us by God to eat. It is made right with God's word and prayer.
"Do not waste time arguing over godless ideas and other old wives' tales. Instead train yourselfs to be godly." 7
Be a good example to those that look at you.
" Throw yourselves into your tasks so that everyone will see your progress."15b
"Keep a close watch on how you live and on your teaching. Stay true to what is right for the sake of your own salvation and the salvation of those who hear you." 16

Ch. 5
Widows- care of, who should be cared for by the church and who should have family to take care of them.
"In the same way, the good deeds of some people are obvious. And the good deeds done in secret will some day come to light."25
Even if you don't get a thank you now or if no one takes notice, don't get discouraged. One day you'll get the biggest thank you ever, and it will show how worth it it all was.

Ch. 6
"For the love of money is the root of all kinds of evil. And some people, craving money, have wandered from the true faith and pierced themselves with many sorrows."10
"Fight the good fight for the true faith."12a
