Not in Kansas anymore

Today, I left Kansas. I like Kansas. I got to visit my family there and hang out with my mom and grandparents and sisters when they were around. Went to my cousin's wedding and she was pretty and the church was neat. Scored awesome deals on some yard sales. Mom made my favorite foods--which I looooved. Pretty much I loved being there and am sad that I am back in Missouri. That pretty much just generally covers it and I'm not going to go much farther into it so I dont' cry.

Tomorrow I start work back at Summerfresh- a local grocery store. Service desk with Jamie all day, which will be neat. I find it awesome that I'm working three days this week and pulling 22 hours in. Love it. I like my job there too...even if old men hit on me sometimes (:

gimme your thoughts...

I'm a sucker for certain tv shows. One of which, Hoarders, is on all night. My original plan was to be up at 8 to do a little bit of exercise and a bike ride. That may or may not happen now.

Also, my room has been overrun with lightening and lady bugs. I'm not thrilled and have taken up residence on the couch until I cake care of it...tomorrow. Freaking hate bugs. I really hate clicker beetles/blister bugs. Annoying and painful. What's even worse is I always have this super unhappy reaction to any bug bite. Seriously. A normal person will get a little mark, I'll end up with a huge bump. Freaking bugs. Coulda left them off the boat Moses.

Finished another hat. This one, the person requested a bill on it. Its a little different than what I normally do. Hopefully tomorrow I'll be able to put up some pictures of what it looks like. Same person requested a dog, but I haven't found one that we mutually agree on. So until then I'll be looking at all the different patterns I have and seeing if there's anything that catches my eye. I'm thinking of putting a book together of what I've made so far, to show people who want things and such....what do you think? The patterns will also be in there and all...let me know what you think!

All that being said, I'm going back to my guilty pleasure of watching Hoarders.

Cook!

I am not known to be a great cook. At most, I'm pretty mediocre, but sometimes, very rarely, this thing inside of me clicks and I can just whip up something that seems so strange and bizarre, but somehow it works and tastes amazing. Tonight that happened. Twice. All because of my poor fallen cherry tree. Earlier today I noticed that some of the cherries were rip and ready to be picked, and me not having anything to do decided to go out and get a few. Then I decided it'd be neat to see if I could make a cherry sauce from it. Turns out I can. And it turned out pretty good so I thought...hmmm....this would be amazing on some white cake. Which I mixed up from scratch. Now, historically speaking, when I make a cake from scratch, it doesn't work. But somehow it did. So now I have this amazing cherry cake sitting on my dinner table begging for more of it to be eaten.
After that it was time to start dinner. Tonight it was just me and my grandma. She loves spicy foods. I literally cry every time she cooks because its too spicy for me. Because of that I decided to make some jalapeƱo-cherry chicken. Mind you, I've never done that before. I've cooked chicken plenty of times, but never dared to make a weird combo like that. By the grace of the cooking faeries, it worked. She came in and thought it was pretty dang amazing. I thought my mouth was going to suffer from third degree burns because of the peppers, but it was pretty tasty. Served it over some plain couscous, and viola!
That's my amazing cooking adventure of the day. I'm still kinda in shock that it all worked out. Can't wait for the rest of the cherries to ripen so I can make jelly and pies and other fun stuff (:
Also- Starwars has been on all day. I want an Ewok.

Oh, rain.

For the past three hours, I have been fighting with my internet to let me do something more than Skype. So far the internet has won, but I found after much persuasion that Firefox will hold through for me...for a little bit. All this is because it rained...last night...all night. I really hope it won't rain again tonight. Rain hinders everything and I'm kinda sick of rain already. Plus, it hurt my poor little cherry tree :( That means there'll be a lot less cherries for my recipes.

As a small confession, I have a hard time watching watching movies that deal with ghosts, voodoo and all that heebyjeeby stuff. And as luck would have it, my grandma put on Skeleton Key while I was in the room...and well, there really isn't anywhere for me to go so I got to be graced by that. Hopefully it won't plague me tonight and the Princess Bride novel will erase the heebies!

Beyond the rain, nothing of consequence is happening in this little house that I haven't left in over 24 hours because there is nothing to do and no one to see.

My poor cherry tree as it stands now ):

Hello Summer

1,352 miles. Three days, two nights. One super long trip to get where I am now., which is sitting on the edge of the couch in my home hearing nothing but the super loud television and wondering just how much longer I can go without taking something for this headache. This trip seemed to take longer and shorter than normal. The longer part comes in for the insane amount of repeated radio songs and sitting for way too long. The short part is the staying with friends and the whole road-vision thing going on after a few hours. Its kinda like a video game once you hit hour ten. Everything seems to be in a different reality...its kinda neat but so not at the same time. I do have to say that my sweet little car has held up once again for the trip. Its a trooper to say the least. Since I've gotten the car I've driven a total of six continental U.S. trips. I wonder what the world record is...

Anyway, I've been home for a total of six hours. Managed to get attacked by three of my dogs, all of whom were way to excited to see me. Went to fix the fence some cows decided to knock over, at which time my crazy horse decided that my hair was perfectly fine to eat and knocked me down. Tripped over my skateboard, twice, in the moving in of my things. Great times, great times. Next week I'll be going to Kansas for a cousin's wedding. But this week, is going to be kinda dull as that there really isn't anything for me to do. I don't start work for a while and that's pretty much all I do during the summer. Not sure what I will come up with, but hopefully it'll be better than doing nothing.

Well..that's all folks

Last Dorm Post

Tonight is my official last night in the dorm for the summer. Its kinda depressing but have found out just how much room there actually in in this room when Rooms and my stuff is gone. My only worry has, hopefully, been taken care of and I won't have to worry about. Granted,I worry about everything. But, sans that hiccup, I have stuffed my little camaro to the brim and vowed to bring half back and one day get a new car. If anyone just happens to have a large car that gets great gas mileage (like a honda fit) just laying around...hook a sister up! Haha
Hopefully, this summer will pass by quickly. It looks like I'll be able to chill out for a few days before heading to Kansas for a week to hang out with my mom and family there and go to my cousin's wedding. Somehow, still not sure how, I got signed up to do hair for the wedding with my mom and sisters. Pretty sure they'll end up delegating camera duties to me in the end. All in all, I'm kinda excited for the wedding cause she found a guy that treats her well and she loves him and they work well together. After the wedding, its back to Missouri for a summer full of work, work and more work. I'm looking forward to working and getting back in to the grove of full days. Might be playing a little bit on a softball team, definitely going to be riding more this summer.

So there it is, the last blog of the school year from the dorm. I'm going to try to not think about that so much so it'll be a little less depressing. Hopefully the next couple days driving won't be so bad. By the by, if you have my number and you're trying to find something to do between the hours of 8am and 9pm Sunday and Monday, you should give my cell a little ring. That's all! Have a good night folks!

Swellness

Today is a top ten day. Well, now it is Saturday technically, so yesterday was a top ten day. I learned that ladybugs are freakishly attracted to me (seven! who gets seven to land on them?!), hot sand still hurts, battle of the bands is better on the east coast, and I may forever be in love with the ocean. All around, today just rocked. I super enjoyed laying on the beach for hours just reading and listening to the sound of the waves rolling on to shore. And then driving around and checking out the shops and being able to relax. Oh! And then the listening to some pretty good tunes by young bands was pretty awesome too. Music is always better with friends and people.

Day before was great too. Went out and attempted surfing with my friend D-guy and his friend. They did much better than I did. I realized what little upper body strength I have and that if there are waves after waves coming at you with no break, its better to admit defeat and watch the pros. Can't wait to get back out there when I come back to this state.
So, now, I sit here in all my happy tanness soaking up the last few precious moments of an awesome day. Which just got better because of a text my mom sent me about her getting dive bombed by a bat in her living room.

Weird Depressants.

As I was driving back from gel tonight (which was cool in the no light), I started thinking of things that were depressing to me. So here are a few things:

  • Gas Prices
  • Abused puppies/kittens
  • Peanut butter
  • Stepping in gum
  • Books that take five chapters to get good
  • Lack of ocean access during the summer
  • Carmel

Some of those would seem weird to some people, but those things make me sad. I mean, I filled up my car today, and it took nearly $40 for 14gal. I remember when it took half that for my tank to get filled. Granted that was almost six years ago, and there was less strife over crude oil and stuff with that. Pretty sure that was the trigger for the depressing things too. Filling up the car is always a little depressing. More so this time because its the fill up before the leave to Missouri.

That's right. In three days I'll be leaving to head back to the big MO. Its a long drive, but well worth it cause I get to see Meg and Chris and stop at White Castle along the way. White Castle makes any road trip better. If you've never tasted the sheer bliss that is one of those, your life is incomplete and you need to get to one fast.
Back to the driving, I'm not a super fan of driving cross-country because I'm a huge worrier, with my main worry being, will my car make it? Will it suddenly die like it has before? Will a freak accident happen? Will I make it on time? And that's just a few of the worries that run through my head. Granted, my car is amazingly reliable and has gotten me to and from school many times. Its a trooper for sure.

It just started raining again. I'm going to use that as my excuse to stop rambling and to go listen to the thunder and the rain. Thunderstorms are pretty out here.

This summer I will:

  • finish all crochet projects
  • land an ollie
  • learn a shuv-ut
  • pet a dolphin
  • teach my dog to stay and come
  • teach my horse to not use reins

End of semester

As of this moment, I'm watching people move their things out of the dorm and into their cars as they make their way to their homes. Also, Jurassic Park 2 is on and that's a pretty sweet movie. It's kind of bittersweet watching everyone go as I sit here and watch knowing I still have more than enough time to pack and get everything ready to leave. I'm sure there's many other things that could be done, but frankly I'd rather not do them and just enjoy this apparently really hot and humid day from the comfort of the couch.
All in all this semester went very well. The best classes were the music ones, as always, even if theory did cause a lot of grief and pain. I am proud to say that I made it through Biblical Language Tools and will not have to take that course ever again. Thank goodness for that. Next semester looks like it will be much easier and a nice break from the crazy number of classes I normally take. So looking forward to it.
As far as the summer goes, going to be working a couple few jobs and seeing just how less cool a lake is compared to the ocean. Hopefully going to be able to work a bit on skating and everything too. and get some creatures made over the summer....be on the lookout for new ones posted on here...
Well, after all that, a few more people have left, leaving Evan, Judson and me even more alone than before. Ah, well, such goes the end of semester.

pictures

I have this other brilliant friend who likes to take pictures. One day I asked her if she could take a couple shots for me, and she said yes! Here's the link to her site where a couple are: Live:Laugh:Love . Be sure to check out her other pictures and tell her how fabulous they are!

kiwi

I have this really cool friend...we'll call him D-guy. He's pretty awesome and really likes kiwis for some reason. So, I made him a kiwi....here it is...

He's a pretty cool little flightless bird...at least in my opinion (:

Owls

Over the semester I've made a few owls for a couple people. I decided it was time to post them and see what everyone thought of them :)

Edwardo--For the silent auction

Nicole Jones's Owl

Mrs. Avery's owl

Owls are pretty awesome to make! They all end up having their own little 'personalities' and I like how no two are exactly the same. Anyhoo....there they are! Let me know what you think of them :)

smiles

Crazy awesome day. I'm really sad that in a couple weeks I'll no longer be able to go to the beach when I want to. On the bright side, that means no terrible sunburns all over my back. Oh! and I finally got to see dolphins. Real live wild dolphins playing in the ocean. I love dolphins and have always wanted to see them at the beach. I think it'd be super awesome to go kayaking and see them up close or on one of the tours or something...i like dolphins.
After that amazing time, went downtown to take pictures with Mrs Alina and that was super awesome. It was super fun getting to hang out with her and talk about picturey things :) Be on the lookout for some pics in the nearish future!

Two weeks. Watch out Chattvegas- here I come. Watch out Waynesville and El Do- I'm coming back.
